It has a small oval opening at the top and just below this opening is the artist's signature ear of corn with husk partially exposing kernels done in matte or bisque finish.

As the daughter of Lucy M. Lewis this artist learned her craft at the elbow of an Acoma matriarch in pottery creations. This piece shows a highly detailed mimbres design with multi-colored animal figures of rabitt, lizard etc., integrated around the circumference of the pot.

This talented potter learned well at side of her grandmother (Lita L. Garcia) and her aunt (Dorothy Torivio). Sandra is widely respected for her large, intricately painted ollas, vases, jars, bowls, and miniatures. Her designs often repeat hundreds of swirling bands of symbols creating an optical effect called "eyedazzlers". This piece is a miniature version of these larger works with three varying patterns separated with red kiva steps moving up and around the curve of the pots surface to the elongated opening. Even among the incredible talent of the Acoma potters, Sandra's work stands out for its high quality and near perfection execution.
