- Item# 0151P Glendora
Daubs, Jemez.
- This renowned
potter creates pieces with little resemblance to traditional Jemez
pottery. Her work shows finely incised sgraffito. After firing,
she carves her design and the red clay shows through. Her work
is contemporary, often with stones embedded in the designs. This
piece is a redware bowl shape that ends in a small opening with
a matching red uncarved stopper. The top of the piece shows fine
concentric sgraffito around the opening and alternating symbols
of a yei figure that embodies rain and lightning designs with
a red stone and round sun symbols with black stones in the center.
This defined area is bordered by a smooth reddish buff area and
then followed by another border beyond which is more sgraffito
carvings around the base.
Size: 5" high by 6" diameter.
Price: $1,795. Mint Condition.
