Item# 0112P Helen Naha, Hopi.

Helen Naha, Feather Woman (Deceased), was among the first Hopi potters to depart from tradition. Using designs from Anasazi black- on-white pottery shards, she produced a distinctive but contemporary style of pottery. She was the leader of the "other" famous Hopi potting family who specialized in whiteware. The displayed piece is an example of Helen's traditional geometric black-on-white design.
