Barbara and Joseph Como of Acoma Pueblo in New Mexico recreate a style of historic pottery that, while popular in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, had not been made for years. Exceptional artists, the Cemos produce extremely large vessels adorned with Acoma, Zuni, and Mimres designs. The pot displayed here has the parrot and rainbow motif with flowers.

This fine potter's given name is Ergil Vallo and he is known for his unusual carved and engraved blackware with bright polychrome paint in the lines and carved areas. This piece shows bright pastel background of pink, and blue with many black engraved figures of kachinas, flying insects (butterfly), humpback flute player, bear hunting fetish, sun, heartline bear with Indian figure on its back, and kiva steps.
